Progress is slow but we are gradually developing the new areas. The board met on Thursday and enjoyed touring our new spaces. We are developing the policy and procedures that will allow the general public to rent our meeting area for organizations, private parties to rent our space. If your organization is looking for a space, come see our new area. It has a refreshment area, a pull down screen, and will seat more than 100.

The Museum has received its seventh consecutive distinguished service award from the Texas Historical Commission. These awards are granted based on our annual reports to the commission and the successful completion of at least 3 projects during the year.

The Lipscomb County Historical Commission and Museum Board is in the process of planning our goals for next year and our October fundraising event. Stay tuned for further developments.

We have received a letter from the Texas Historic Tree Coalition announcing its Texas County Historic Tree Initiative. The goal is to find, recognize, and celebrate a historic tree in each of the Texas 254 counties. They are asking the county historical commission to join the project by nominating as many as three trees for consideration. If you know of a tree with a historical connection such a gathering place for a community, a marker for water crossings, a hanging tree, etc. contact us and we will prepare the nomination for you. We have a lot of old trees and I am sure the all have a story. Lets find one to celebrate.
