WOLF CREEK HERITAGE MUSEUM NOTES

MUSEUM HAPPENINGS

The combined board for the museum and the historical commission met on Wednesday, April 13 at p.m. with 11 out of 17 members present. The 2016 goals were adopted and will be listed below instead of the historical musing. Judy Ward, lipscomb representative and vice-chair for group submitted her resignation due to her pending move back to Houston. The newsletter has been mailed with membership renewal. Please call us if you did not receive one and you want to become a member.

The Maxine Jones exhibit is complete and We are preparing for her reception that will be this coming Sunday, the 24th. Dolores Mosser will be in attendance to read her book 'A Train Story' at 3:30 pm so bring a child with you so they can enjoy this wonderful story.

    2016 GOALS

    1. CONTINUE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE AMERICAN ASSOCIATION FOR STATE AND LOCAL HISTORY STEPS (standards and excellence program for history organizations) PROGRAM

    2. DEVELOP AND PLAN EXHIBITS FOR THE MUSEUM

    3. PARTICIPATE IN THE PROPOSED RED RIVER WAR COMMITTEE

    4. DEVELOP A "TALKING TOMBSTONE" PROGRAM

    5. CONTINUE TO PUBLISH AT LEAST 2 ISSUES OF NEWSLETTER

    6. CONTINUE TO INVESTIGATE POSSIBLE SITES AND SUBJECTS FOR FUTURE HISTORICAL MARKERS

    7. CREATE A COUNTY BROCHURE FEATURING HISTORICAL MARKERS

    8. IDENTIFY HISTORICAL ROADS AND TRAILS WITHIN THE COUNTY

    9. INVESTIGATE THE PRESERVATION OF HISTORICAL BUILDINGS IN HIGGINS THRU THE SUMMERLEE FOUNDATION OR OTHER SOURCES.

    10. PARTICIPATE IN THE VIETNAM WAR COMMERATION 2O16-2018.
