WOLF CREEK HERITAGE MUSEUM NOTES
by Virginia Scott

MUSEUM HAPPENINGS

A calm week but a lot of traffic coming through Lipscomb picking up hay and feed for distribution throughout the area. The visiting ranchers, suppliers, and local people held church in our meeting room.

Our meeting room holds approximately 100 and we have over 100 chairs. We also have tables. It is available for any function. Contact us for details.

This Sunday is the reception for Doug Rickett and his new exhibit of his wonderful designs. Please plan to attend and experience his work and visit with him.

We lost another Lipscomb citizen last week. Lewis Newman Deeds of Higgins. He worked for Lipscomb County for 1985 to 2002. After retiring he was elected county commissioner for Lipscomb County for one term. He was one of the members of the Historical Commission that built the museum. Our thoughts are with his family.

HISTORICAL MUSINGS

We celebrated St. Patrick's day last Friday and Saturday in Shamrock. Saint Patrick is the foremost patron saint of Ireland. St. Patrick's day was made an official Christian feast day in the early 17th century and is observed by the Catholic church, the Anglican communion, the Eastern Orthodox church and the Lutheran Church. The day commemorates Saint Patrick and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland.

The wearing of green and/or shamrocks is because it is believed that St. Patrick is said to have used the shamrock, a three-leaved plant to explain the Holy Trinity to the pagan Irish.

I hope you enjoyed his day.

JOIN US SUNDAY, MARCH 26 AT 2PM FOR THE RECEPTION FOR DOUG RICKETT.
