WOLF CREEK HERITAGE MUSEUM NOTES
by Virginia Scott

MUSEUM HAPPENINGS

Last Thursday, I traveled to Wheeler for a quarterly meeting of the Texas Plains Trails Board Meeting. It was nice not having to travel the day before to attend a meeting. The meeting was routine with business as usual except for the resignation of Barbara Brennon our director. She is returning to her former occupation of editor. She will publish her magazine, "Authentic Texas," it focuses on the trails program throughout Texas as well as feature articles on Texas sites. She has been a great director for our program and visited all 50 counties and met with all the judges and chambers. She will be missed.

The museum will be changing exhibits this week. September - October exhibit will be Pam Tyson and some of her new quilts. Her quilts are works of art and always a delight to view. Her reception will be Sunday, September 15 at 2pm.

HISTORICAL MUSINGS

The following article in the August 21, 1919 limelight describes something we take for granted today:
"Farmers and townspeople all over the country are rapidly adopting the new policy of using writing paper and envelopes with their names and addresses neatly printed there on. It has many advantages. It prevents the numerous errors in the spelling of names, insures correctness of address, and guarantees the prompt return of your letter in the event of non-delivery. It is no more expensive than the buying of stationery in small lots in the old way, and adds a distinctive air of respectability and refinement to every home. It is a good thing, and has come to stay - - grow.
I wonder what he would have to say about all the address labels I receive daily from every organization in the United States.

Stay cool and safe.
