WOLF CREEK HERITAGE MUSEUM NOTES
by Virginia Scott

MUSEUM HAPPENINGS

The group of five ventured to Plainview to the South Plains Genealogical Society second annual seminar. This year's speaker was Marynell Anderson Bryant, a self taught genealogist from the Sulphur Springs area. She spoke on researching your family history thru family relatives and records; county, state, and national records ; and war records. She also gave tips about census records. We will have copies of our program at the next meeting of our genealogy group on first Wednesday of the month at 2pm.

A correction from last week: our board meeting was Wednesday, April 10th and I will report any actions next week.

HISTORICAL MUSINGS

Since graduation is upon us, the following is from a graduation speech given to the graduating class of 1919:
"Girls in presenting you these diplomas, if by their significance you are led to allow your mother to do all the work, bake all the bread, sweep all the floors because you can read Latin or demonstrate a theorem in geometry, then has your school been a most unfortunate course, and has been no lesson that has weaned you from the dish pan. Boys out into the world too nice to carry wood and swill the hogs if need be, then has our school failed in its purpose and sown the wrong seed."
You're welcome to rewrite the above to fit a message to the new graduates of 2019.
