WOLF CREEK HERITAGE MUSEUM NOTES
by Virginia Scott
We are preparing for the Lipscomb County Courthouse to relocate to the museum and school house. In doing so we have schedule the Higgins Multipurpose Bldg for our annual fundraiser. The event will be October 13th at 6:30 pm. There will be silent and live auctions and a surprise entertainment. Tickets are on sale at $25 each. Call our office and make your reservations, 806-852-2123. Next year we will go to Follett. Hopefully the renovations to the courthouse will be completed by then.
If you have things for our auctions, bring them to the museum or call us and we will pick them up.
In the Sept 19,1918 issue of the "Lipscomb Lime Light" in the editor's column titled "Town and Country News," he poses the following question:
'Wouldn't it be a good thing for the old town of Lipscomb to have a public reading room or in other words a city depot where the country fold would have an opportunity to rest while in the town and have the chance to read the daily papers or some of the metropolitan magazines? Just a place to rest while in the burg during their short stay trading and at the same time a pleasant place for the towns people to while away an hour at intervals during the winter months.'
One hundred years later, Harold and Pam Haines have answered that request and have given us a fine library. Stop by sometime and visit it. You can also visit the Library in Higgins for the last in literary offerings.
